Presenters: Akron Postmaster W.P. Jones III, Akron USPS Manager of Customer Services Jeff Franks, South Arlington Manager of Customer Services Ron Mitchell, and Akron Police Chief James Nice.

Recipient: City Letter Carrier Kevin Holland

Background:

Inspired by limited edition Priority Mail boxes featuring The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie, The Akron Post Office and is honoring South Arlington City Letter Carrier Kevin Holland with the USPS Postal Hero Award in the front lobby of the South Arlington Post Office, 1237 S. Arlington Street on National Superhero Day, April 28, 2014. Police Chief James Nice will be presenting Holland with an Akron Police Department t-shirt.

On January 7, 2014, Holland noticed an unfamiliar person entering a residence on his route and immediately asked a neighbor to contact the Akron Police Department. Officers responded, apprehended the suspect inside the home, and discovered that the suspect was wanted in other cities for a series of burglaries and a vehicle theft. 

Created in 1995 by a group of Marvel Comics employees, National Superhero Day is celebrated every year on April 28th.
