CLEVELAND, OH — The Postal Inspection Service, working in conjunction with Federal and local law enforcement agencies, will implement a temporary security measure to increase public safety during the Republican National Convention (RNC). Postal officials will temporarily remove from service some blue mail collection boxes and curtail some retail operations in downtown Cleveland. Postal officials emphasize this is a precautionary security measure only.
The following collection boxes will be removed from service during the week of July 11 and will be returned to service during the week of July 25:

Notices of the temporary removal from service have been posted on these boxes. Customers accustomed to using these collection boxes may bring their outgoing mail to the Cleveland Main Post Office at 2400 Orange Ave., Cleveland, OH 44101.
Notices will also be posted on collection pick-up points located in downtown Cleveland office-building lobbies noting that during the four days of the RNC, the locations will continue to be collected daily, but not at the posted collection times.
Retail hours of operations to be curtailed during the RNC (Monday - Thursday, July 18-21) are as follows:
- Public Square, 410 Superior Ave E, Cleveland, OH 44114 will close at 12:00 p.m.
- Erieview Finance, 1240 E 9th St, Cleveland, OH 44199, will close at 11:00 a.m.
- Tower City, 50 Public Square, Cleveland, OH 44113 will be closed.
Regular retail hours of operations at these locations will resume on Friday, July 22.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
