Background:
The Postal Service expects to deliver a total of approximately 15 billion cards, letters and packages during the 2017 holiday season. In addition, the Postal Service is projecting more than a 10% increase in package volume this holiday season — more than 850 million packages will be delivered (2016: 750M | 2015: 660M).
Busiest Mailing and Delivery Days
The Postal Service predicts that Dec. 18-24 will be the busiest mailing, shipping and delivery week for holiday packages, letters and cards. More than 180 million packages are expected to be delivered during the busiest week — roughly 26 million packages each day. Dec. 18 is expected to be the busiest day for usps.com with more than 7 million customers predicted to visit on that day alone | 4.6 million people regularly visit usps.com daily.
