OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has approved the relocation of Farley Station Post Office from 3621 NW 16th Street to 4025 W. Reno Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK.

The Postal Service discussed the proposal at a December 3, 2015, public meeting and has carefully considered all of the concerns expressed in those discussions, as well as in appeals and comments received after the public meeting. For the reasons set forth below, the Postal Service has decided to proceed with the relocation.

The Postal Service anticipates providing the same services at the new location as are currently provided to our customers at the existing location. The new location is an existing Postal Service facility less than two miles away that does not presently offer retail services. A new retail lobby will be built and the same services offered.  Additionally, the Postal Service plans to continue services at the existing Post Office until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Oklahoma City population, community input was properly considered and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives. Postal Service operations are not supported by tax dollars. To be self-sustaining, the Postal Service must make decisions that ensure it provides adequate and affordable postal services in a manner that is as efficient and economical as possible.

USPS does not receive tax dollars for its operations or facilities, but covers costs solely through the revenue received from the sale of its products and services.
