BRIDAL VEIL, Ore. – The Bridal Veil Post Office celebrates 125 years of service to the community on Saturday, July 7, 2012, when it will hold a special event with refreshments served from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The public is invited to attend the event, co-hosted by the Bridal Veil Historical Society.

The small, rustic 10x10-foot building at 47100 W. Mill Rd. has been the Bridal Veil Post Office’s home since the 50s, according to Postmaster Geri Canzler. The original location was established at the town’s railway station on July 7, 1887.

Memorabilia from throughout the Bridal Veil Post Office’s history will be on display July 7th, and customers will also be able to make a little history of their own by having a special anniversary postmark applied by hand to cards and envelopes. The postmark will be applied at no charge to any item bearing current First-Class postage stamps.

Bridal Veil’s Post Office is popular with couples from throughout the country who bring or mail their wedding invitations here postmarked for mailing all over the world. Canzler says more than 100,000 engaged couples have had their invitations postmarked in Bridal Veil over the years. The tiny building also continues to be a popular stop for tourists headed to nearby Multnomah Falls and Bridal Veil Falls.

The Bridal Veil Post Office is open weekdays 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The special anniversary postmark will be available through Aug. 7, 2012.
