THE DALLES, OR – The U.S. Postal Service is advising that any residents of The Dalles area who have been forced to evacuate their homes because of the Rowena Fire may pick up their mail at The Dalles Post Office, 101 W. 2nd St., The Dalles, until further notice.

According to local postal officials, approximately 120 residential mail deliveries are expected to be inaccessible today as a result of roads being closed by local emergency officials.

The Dalles Post Office’s retail hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. On Saturday, customers may obtain their mail via the Post Office’s “Dutch door” between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Customers are asked to present photo identification to obtain their mail.

Decisions on future changes to mail delivery will be made and updated after consulting with local emergency managers.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
