PORTLAND - The United States Postal Service is now accepting online applications for about 750 job positions in Oregon and Southwest Washington, most of them in the Portland metro area.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. Background checks and drug tests will be conducted.

Depending on position, starting pay ranges from $12.00 to $17.02 per hour; some positions include immediate health benefits and may lead to future permanent employment with the Postal Service. Those selected for holiday positions will work approximately six weeks on a temporary basis during the holiday season.

Hours of work will vary based on mail volume but are expected to average approximately 30 to 48 hours per week. Most of the available positions involve the handling and processing of mail and require heavy lifting. Some carrier positions are also available. Some retail support positions will also be available.

Those interested must apply for the positions online at the Postal Service’s website: www.usps.com/employment. Click the “Search Now” link to search by state, and any positions currently available for Oregon or Washington will be displayed. No phone or in-person applications will be accepted.

Applications are being accepted through mid-November, and new positions will be posted online on an ongoing basis, so potential applicants are encouraged to check the USPS website frequently.
