PITTSBURGH —Post Offices will be open Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve in the Western PA District, encompassing 150-168 & 260 ZIP Code areas, to serve customer’s last minute mailing needs. However, most offices will shorten retail lobby hours and close at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Regular mail delivery for Dec. 24 and Dec. 31 will be unaffected by the changes to Post Office retail hours.

“As many businesses close early Christmas Eve, the number of customers visiting our lobbies greatly diminishes,” said Western PA District Manager Robert Cintron. “We view this as an opportunity to afford employees more time with their families by closing retail operations early in many locations on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.”

26 Post Offices within the Western PA District will remain open until 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve for customers with last minute mailing needs. The list is below:

Express Mail is delivered 365 days a year and will be delivered both Christmas Day and Sunday. Regular mail delivery will resume December 26.

Noon will be the last collection for mail deposited in blue collection boxes for Dec. 24 processing. Commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Acceptance Unit for Dec. 24 hours of operation.

Customers may go online to usps.com or call 1-800-ASK-USPS for information about specific Post Offices. In addition, mail should be deposited into blue collection mailboxes before noon for early pickup on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

For added customer convenience, Automated Postal Centers (APC) are available at the following 25 Western PA District locations and most provide 24-hour access to many postal products and services:

Using a credit or debit card, these self-service kiosks enable customers to conduct business at their convenience. APC’s enable customers to:

• Buy the same self-adhesive stamps provided through ATMs.
• Weigh, calculate and purchase postage in amounts for items weighing up to 70lbs.
• Send items via Express, Priority and First Class Mail, as well as by Parcel Post services.
• Look up ZIP Codes and obtain Postal Service mailing information.
• Obtain Express Mail, Certified Mail, and Return Receipts
• Purchase Delivery Confirmation service.
• Obtain a purchase receipt.
