HUNTINGDON—The Huntingdon Post Office’s origin dates back to 1797 and Postmaster John Cadwallader. In 1915, it moved to its current building on Washington Street, creating a permanent fixture within the Juniata River community for the past century.
A ceremony is scheduled to celebrate the Post Office’s 100th anniversary on Wednesday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at the Post Office located at 401 Washington Street.
The Legion Color Guard / VFW Honor Guard of Huntingdon will raise a United States flag, above the Post Office, formerly flown at the U.S. Capital, as the Pledge of Allegiance is led by the local Boy & Girl Scouts troupes. Remarks will be made by prominent state and local officials as well as representatives from Juniata College.
