Background: |
The Postal Service is engaged in an effort towards potential relocation of the Venetia Post Office to a not yet determined location. If the relocation is approved, Postal retail services would remain in the community at a different physical location within the same geographic ZIP Code area; there would be no impact on letter carrier delivery to residents and businesses, and no change to Post Office Box numbers or ZIP Codes. The United States Postal Service will present this proposal during a 7:30 p.m. meeting scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2017, at the Peters Township Municipal Building, 610 E. McMurray Rd., McMurray, PA 15317. Written comments on the proposal will be accepted for 30 days following the meeting and may be submitted to: |
As a self-supporting government agency that receives no tax dollars for its operating expenses, the Postal Service must rely on the sale of postage, products and services to generate revenue. Despite significant cost reductions, the Postal Service continues to experience a net loss due to declining mail volumes. Faced with unsustainable deficits, the Postal Service is required to find ways to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and sustain its viability.
