Beginning Friday, April 6, 2012, the Greater South Carolina District will post a total of eleven positions for ten days on usps.com/careers in Columbia and Charleston for Garagemen PSE-5 $13.74 per hour (5 in Columbia, 2 in Charleston) and Tractor Trailer Operators, PSE-8, $15.85 per hour (2 in Columbia, 2 in Charleston).
Garageman: Applicants must pass a written test (Exam 943).  Must also: be available to work on an as-needed basis; have a valid state drivers license, have a minimum of two years driving experience with a good driving record and must meet personal and medical suitability.  This is a non-career position with limited benefits, including earning up to 4 hours of annual leave per pay period.  If reappointed after the first 360-day term, benefits will include access to health insurance.

Tractor Trailer Operator: Applicants must pass a written exam (Exam 240).  Must also: be able to work on an as-needed basis; have a valid SC state drivers license, have a CDL & DOT Medical Card; have a minimum of two years driving experience with a good driving record; meet personal and medical suitability.
