Doug Mixson appointed new Postmaster in Walterboro

Effective October 6, the Greater South Carolina District is pleased to announce that Ruffin Postmaster, Doug Mixson, current Officer-in-Charge in Walterboro, has been appointed Postmaster in Walterboro.  Mixson replaces Ed Culpepper, who retired July 31 after 34 years service,15 as Postmaster in Walterboro.

Mixson, a native of the Ashton, SC community, began his career as a Temp Rural Carrier/Postmaster Relief in Smoaks, SC 11 years ago at age 18.  He has had many accomplishments leading to his third Postmaster position, including Postmaster jobs in Williams and Ruffin.  When he became Postmaster in Williams at age 21, he was the youngest Postmaster in the U. S. and second youngest in history.

In his previous jobs, Mixson routinely served the Greater South Carolina District on details, helping Lowcountry and Pee Dee Post Offices with office transfers, audits and route adjustments.  He is one of three certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belts in the Greater South Carolina District.  In that role, he has designed and carried out efficiency programs throughout the Capitol-Metro Area that have saved the Postal Service over $28 million.
