Media Invited to Witness the “Busiest Mailing Day” in a Tour of the Columbia Postal Processing and Distribution Center

The Greater South Carolina District of the U. S. Postal Service invites the media for a tour of the Columbia Postal Processing Plant.

WHY: The Postal Service in the Greater South Carolina District invites the media to witness the massive flow of mail through the Columbia Processing and Distribution Center, at the busiest hour, on the nation’s busiest mailing day.  The Postal Service expects to process 15.5 billion pieces of mail during the 2015 holiday season, up 10.5 percent over last year.  Reporters are encouraged to arrange for a “live shot” for local news broadcast.  (See attachment: Columbia P&DC Fact Sheet & Mailing Deadlines)

In time for the holidays, the Postal Service will offer real-time delivery notifications – meaning customers who sign up for alerts at myusps.com will receive notification within a few minutes of the delivery scan for select packages.
