Bishopville Main Post Office building temporarily closed due to fire

USPS to add Retail Mobile Unit to assist customers

BISHOPVILLE, SC — The Bishopville Main Post Office, located at 451 N. Main Street, Bishopville, SC  29010, experienced a fire today, Jan. 19, which damaged the building.  As a result, the Postal Service has temporarily closed the Post Office building.  No employees or customers were injured and no mail was damaged due to the fire. The temporary closure will not affect mail delivery.

To assist customers, the Postal Service is scheduled to stage a Mobile Retail Unit in the Bishopville Main Post Office parking lot on Friday, Jan. 20, to provide retail services. Customers of Bishopville Main Post Office can retrieve PO Box mail and obtain retail services at the Mobile Retail Unit.  Customers are required to show a photo ID to receive their PO Box mail.

The Mobile Retail Unit’s hours of operation are as follows:

  • Monday – Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Postal Service is committed to restoring service to the Bishopville Post Office as quickly as possible.
