Sturgis Bike Rally postmarkSTURGIS, SD — Riders attending the 70th Sturgis Bike Rally, August 9-15, will find a second Post Office station available to meet their shipping needs.

“We understand that Bike Rally visitors have other things than shipping on their minds,” says Acting Sturgis Postmaster Pito Degollado. “So we want to make things as easy and convenient as possible.”

During the rally, riders can purchase stamps, mail packages, purchase money orders and perform other postal retail services at:

STURGIS POST OFFICE
820 KINSHIP RD (one block of Lazelle next to the Community Center)
8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

HARLEY STATION
1040 JUNCTION AVE
9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

In addition, both stations will offer a souvenir commemorative postmark (see above) recognizing the event. Postcards with the commemorative postmark make great, inexpensive souvenirs for friends and family not able to make the rally in person.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
