White House Rural Council and USPS join to help small rural businesses promote export growth

JACKSON, TN — In support of the White House Made in Rural America (MIRA) Export and Investment initiative, the Jackson Post Office will host an educational event next week to promote international shipping and mailing for small businesses. Made in Rural America is intended to bring together federal resources to help rural businesses access new customers and markets abroad and take advantage of international trade assistance.

The Jackson Post Office MIRA event is scheduled for Thursday, July 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the main Post Office, 200 Martin Luther King Blvd., Jackson TN  38301. Registrations can be made online at www.usps.com/Jackson.

This cooperative interagency program allows for the USPS to lend our online tools, supplies and international shipping expertise to help rural businesses reach new customers and markets abroad, while supporting economic growth and jobs here in the United States.

Presenters at this FREE event will include:
Dylan Daniels – International Trade Specialist- US Department of Commerce
John Ordung –SBA Ex/Im Bank State Partner -- Export Import Bank of the United States
Harriet Cannon – Assistant to the State Director – USDA Rural Development
David Leonard- Regional Manager – SBA International Trade Export Solutions Group
Gilbert Ramos – International Sales Specialist – United States Postal Service

The Postal Service is excited to take part in the Made in Rural America initiative and looks forward to showcasing USPS products and services. Shipping options such as International Express and Priority Mail, and Global shipping as a whole, are just a few components of educational information to be shared. Customers can learn to use USPS online tools that make it easy to create shipping labels, pay for postage and even create Customs forms.

Pursuant to the Made in Rural America Export and Investment initiative, the USPS is working collaboratively with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the Small Business Administration to support the importance of small businesses by helping them to grow and expand into new markets.
