USPS Fort Worth District Announces Adjusted Holiday Hours

Many Post Offices To Close Early Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve

December 21, 2010

FORT WORTH— District Manager Tim Vierling reminds Postal customers there will be adjusted holiday hours during the Christmas Holidays for many Post Offices in the U.S. Postal Service’s Fort Worth District. Many Post Offices will close early and some mail collection locations may also have earlier pick up times, as posted, on Christmas Eve, Friday, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31; however, full delivery services will be provided these days.

Customers requiring full Post Office services after their local Post Office closes are asked to call 1-800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777) or use the Locate a Post Office feature on the U.S. Postal Service website: www.usps.com, to find the location of other nearby Post Offices remaining open later in the day.

All Post Offices will be closed Saturday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas Day holiday and on Saturday, Jan 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. There will be no mail collections and no regular deliveries will be provided on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.

Regular Post Office retail hours of operation and full mail delivery services will resume on the Mondays following the holidays, Dec. 27 and Jan. 3.

The Fort Worth District includes all Postal Service operations for the following areas of Texas, with 3-digit ZIP code prefixes: 760-764, 768, 769, 790-796.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no direct support from taxpayers. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 28th in the 2009 Fortune 500.
