ARLINGTON, TX — The effects of Tuesday’s devastating tornadoes are still being felt in a particular subdivision of Arlington, the Overland Stage subdivision.  Arlington Police and city clean up crews have closed many roads for debris removal, presenting a delivery challenge for the letter carrier to deliver mail.  As the clean up progresses daily, the amount and addresses to which the carrier can deliver changes.  For this reason, the Arlington Post Office asks customers in that affected area to contact their local delivery station to determine their delivery status or to provide instructions to hold their mail for pick up or temporarily forward to another address, including a possible post office box.  The Arlington Melear station, which delivers to the Overland Stage subdivision, which is part of the of the 76015 ZIIP code zone, can be contacted at 817-465-4879 or 817-465-3899.  The affected area is located east of Green Oaks Blvd., west of Kelly-Elliott, and south of Bardin Road. Approximately 200 to 300 homes are included in the affected area. Some houses currently have no mailbox for mail delivery, while other deliveries are impeded by street clean up crews and assorted vehicles parked in the streets.

The Arlington Melear Station is located at 3903 Melear Drive, Arlington, TX, 76015.  The hours of service are Monday-Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM, Saturday 9:30AM - 2:00PM.  Customers may request their mail be held at the delivery station for pick up; however, identification will be required.  Customers may submit a temporary forwarding order to an alternative address.  Additionally, post office boxes are available for rent.

Postal customers whose homes were destroyed by the tornado should consult their local delivery station to arrange for alternative mail delivery until they can establish a permanent residence.  The Postal Service will hold mail for up to two weeks before returning to sender.

Customers can call the Postal Service's toll-free number 800-ASK-USPS (800-275-8777) or the TTY number 877-TTY-2HLP (877-889-2457) for help with any postal questions they may have.
