MARLIN, TX – The Marlin Post Office building will soon undergo renovation, requiring a temporary move to alternate quarters until work on the building is being completed. Post Office operations will move to a trailer to be located in the parking lot behind the existing Post Office facility. There will be no changes in hours of retail operation or PO Box operations as a result of the move. Customers will still be able to access PO Boxes 24/7. The move previously scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 6, has been changed to Wednesday, Nov. 14.
The temporary location will have new PO Boxes, but all customers’ box numbers will remain the same. Box holders will receive a new set of keys for the new boxes in the trailer, but their box numbers will remain the same. These customers will need to contact Officer-In-Charge Christi Davidson during regular, retail business hours to obtain a new key for their boxes. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Customers may pick up their new PO Box keys starting Monday, Nov. 12.
Repairs to the current PO facility are expected to take several months. No firm date has been set for completion of the project.# # #

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation — 151 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With 32,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 35th in the 2011 Fortune 500. In 2011, Oxford Strategic Consulting ranked the U.S. Postal Service number one in overall service performance of the posts in the top 20 wealthiest nations in the world. Black Enterprise and Hispanic Business magazines ranked the Postal Service as a leader in workforce diversity. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for six years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
