AUSTIN, TX — Post Offices in Austin will be open Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec. 24, and New Year’s Eve, Monday, Dec. 31. Most Post Offices will shorten retail lobby hours and close at noon on these dates. Regular mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.
Only the following Austin Post Office locations will be open normal hours on Dec. 24:
- Austin Bluebonnet Station, 1822 W. Braker Ln.; 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Austin Mockingbird Station - 7310 Manchaca Rd.; 8 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Only the following Austin Post Office locations will be open normal hours on Dec. 31:
- Austin Balcones Station, 11900 Jollyville Rd.; hours 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
- Austin Oak Hill Station, 6104 Old Fredericksburg Rd.; hours 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office and commercial customers are asked to check with their Bulk Mail Entry Units for specific information regarding holiday hours of operation.
Blue collection boxes having final collection times before 12 p.m. will not be affected by these changes. However, collection boxes with final collection times scheduled after that may be collected early. Therefore, mail should be deposited into these mailboxes by 12 p.m. for early pick-up on Dec. 24 and Dec. 31.

Post Offices will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Only Express Mail will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.
As previously announced, Austin’s Downtown Station Post Office, at 510 Guadalupe St., will close permanently at 5:30 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 27, in order to complete the move to the new Downtown Station Post Office location over the extended New Year’s Day holiday weekend. The facility will be locked at 12 midnight, on Thursday, Dec. 27, and PO box mail will not be available until the opening of the new Downtown Station on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Due to construction in the area, over the extended New Year’s Day holiday weekend, Austin’s Capitol Station Post Office, located at 111 E. 17th St., will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 29 until Wednesday, Jan. 2.
