MIDLAND –The Postal Service is now accepting applications for transitional and postal support jobs for in the Midland-Odessa area, as well as facilities around the state. The influx of retiring postal employees this year has left openings in the Postal Service's workforce.
Local job positions are being posted online this week starting today, Dec. 19, and will remain posted one week, until Dec. 26, at www.usps.com/employment under the "search jobs and apply online section." Other positions across the state are being posted weekly; anyone wishing to apply must do so within a five-day window. It is suggested that applicants check the web page consistently to keep up with the position openings.
The Postal Service is actively seeking to fill 15 part-time positions that will soon be available at the Midland Post Office (9) and at the Odessa Post Office (6). Scheduled work days will normally be Monday through Saturday, with an average 32-hour work week. Salary for these positions will be $14.89-per-hour and these jobs will be non-career, with no benefits and no guaranteed hours.
Other positions may also become available and can be found on the Postal Service’s employment website. Pay for various non-career Postal Service jobs normally ranges from $12.38 to $22.15 per hour. While none of the positions will provide benefits, they have the possibility of leading to permanent USPS career employment.
