OFFICIAL DEDICATION FOR THE “SGT. CHRIS DAVIS POST OFFICE”

The U.S. Postal Service will officially dedicate the Lubbock, TX Monterey Station facility to the “Sergeant Chris Davis Post Office Building.”

DETAILS:

Sergeant Chris Davis was born in Lubbock, Texas, on October 25, 1971.  He was educated in the local school district and graduated from Estacado High School.  Prior to enlisting in the United States Army, Chris worked as a welder in a machine shop.  Davis enlisted in the Army in September 1999 and proudly served his nation during four tours of duty in Iraq in 2002, 2003, 2005, and 2007.  He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 69th Regiments, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Georgia.

During his honorable career, he earned an Army Commendation, Three Army Achievement medals, a Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary medal, Southwest Asia Service medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary medal and one Global War on Terrorism Service medal.

Sgt. Davis was killed in action when his unit was attacked by insurgents using an improvised explosive device and small-arms fire.

H.R. 1632, introduced by Representative Neugebauer in April 2011, renames the postal facility at 5014 Gary Avenue after Sergeant Chris Davis. This legislation was signed into law on October 12, 2011.
