SAN MARCOS, TX — A new San Marcos Post Office will open for business on Monday, Jan. 28. In 2011, the U.S. Postal Service announced plans to relocate retail and PO box operations from the San Marcos Main Post Office (MPO), at 301 N. Guadalupe St., to a newly renovated area of the existing Postal Service-owned San Marcos Carrier Annex facility, located at 210 S. Stagecoach Trail, near Wonder World Dr. and Hunter Rd. Mail carrier operations formerly located in the Main Post Office moved to the Carrier Annex location in 2008.
The current San Marcos Main Post Office facility has been sold and the 301 N. Guadalupe St. Post Office location will close permanently at 12 noon, on Saturday, Jan. 26, in order to complete the move to the new 210 S. Stagecoach Trail location. The facility will be locked at noon (Sat., Jan. 26) and PO box mail will not be available to box customers until the opening of the new San Marcos Post Office facility, at 8:30 a.m. the following Monday.
Approximately 1,600 PO box customers served by the San Marcos Post Office will retain their current box number and 78667 ZIP Code, so no change of address will be necessary; however, all box holders will be receiving new keys. Customers may pick up their new PO box keys during normal business hours starting Monday morning, Jan. 28.
The new location will offer significantly improved customer parking and access. Hours of operation for the new San Marcos Post Office, will remain the same as the old Post Office location - 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., on Saturday; and closed Sunday. The PO box lobby will be open and the Self Service Kiosk will be available to customers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
