AUSTIN, TX – In conjunction with this weekend’s Austin Marathon, which includes road closures on Congress Ave. and 9th St. beginning this Friday, Feb. 15, at 3 p.m. through 6 p.m. Sunday evening, Feb. 17, and also in observance of the President’s Day Holiday, on Monday, Feb. 18, Austin Postmaster Fina Morales announced the following holiday weekend schedule.

Austin’s Downtown Station Post Office, 823 Congress Ave. (at 9th St.), will operate normal retail business hours, until 5:30 p.m. on Friday and be closed on the weekend.  Downtown Station PO Box customers, with ZIP Codes 78767 and 78768, will continue to have access to their boxes from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day.

The last pick up time for the mail collection box located inside the Downtown Station Post Office will remain 6 p.m. on Friday, 12 p.m. on Saturday, with no collection on Sunday. The pick up time for the collection box located outside the Downtown Station will remain 5 p.m. on Friday, and 12 p.m. on Saturday, with no collection on Sunday.

Two downtown collection boxes located along the Austin Marathon route where roads will be closed early Friday through Sunday will not be collected on Friday. Collection boxes at 701 Brazos St. and at 220 East 11th St., are both normally collected on Friday at 5 p.m., with no pick up on the weekend.

Some residential and business deliveries for customers in ZIP Code area 78701, located where roads will be closed, may not receive mail delivery on Friday and there will be no mail delivery to those customers located where roads are closed on Saturday.  Normal mail delivery for those locations affected by the road closures will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Customers are reminded that the Postal Service will observe the Presidents Day Holiday on Monday, Feb. 18, and all post office retail locations will be closed, and there will be no regular mail delivery or collections on the holiday.  All retail, mail delivery and collection operations will fully resume on Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Aside from those areas inaccessible due to road closures this weekend, the Postal Service does not expect any changes to normal Austin Post Office retail operations or to mail delivery and collections for residential and business customers in other parts of the city.

Customers may use Automated Postal Centers located in many larger area post office lobbies and available 24/7. The post office is always open at www.usps.com.
