SAN ANTONIO, TX — The Postal Service is now accepting applications for transitional and postal support jobs for facilities around the state. The influx of retiring postal employees this year has left openings in the Postal Service's workforce.
The job positions are being posted on www.usps.com/employment under the "search jobs and apply online section." Positions are being posted weekly; anyone wishing to apply must do so in a five-day window. It is suggested that applicants check the web page consistently to keep up with the position openings.
The Postal Service is actively seeking to fill part-time positions currently available at the Hobson Post Office, in Karnes County. Work hours for the Hobson Post Office position are Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Starting pay is $11.76 per hour. This job will be posted from December 11 until December 22. As previously noted, other positions may also become available and new positions may be found each week on the Postal Service’s employment website.
Pay for these non-career positions ranges from $11 to $15.56 per hour. None of the positions will provide benefits, but they have the possibility to lead to permanent USPS employment.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
