LOWAKE, TX – The U.S. Postal Service will implement an emergency suspension of the Lowake, TX Post Office, located at 24132 FM 381, Lowake, TX 76855, effective close of business on Friday, January 24, 2014. The office will be closed until further notice. Alternate service will be provided by the nearby Rowena Post Office. Postal officials cited Lack of Qualified Personnel as the reason for the office’s suspension, which is not a permanent closure.
About 20 customers currently receive PO box delivery at the Lowake Post Office. While this office is under an emergency suspension, Lowake Post Office customers will receive mail delivery through PO box service at the Rowena Post Office, 501 Mary St., Rowena, TX 76875.
No change of address will be required. Mailing addresses for customers served by the Lowake Post Office will remain the same - PO box numbers and last line of information (city, state and ZIP) will not change. Lowake Post Office customers should contact Miles Postmaster Chris Hollway, at 325-442-4261, with any questions they may have.
Retail window service hours for the Rowena Post Office are Monday through Friday, 7 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. The office is closed on Saturday and Sunday.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
