The Postal Service is now accepting applications for part-time, City Carrier Assistants and Rural Carrier Associate jobs for the Midland-Odessa area, as well as facilities around the state. The influx of retiring postal employees this year has left openings in the Postal Service's workforce.
For people unable to attend the job fairs, Postal Service job positions are being posted online at www.usps.com/employment under the "search jobs and apply online section." Local jobs and other positions across the state are being posted weekly; anyone wishing to apply for a specific job must do so within the job posting period. The Postal Service encourages applicants to check the web page consistently to keep up with the changes in various position openings.
The Postal Service is currently seeking to fill 53 part-time positions that will soon be available at the Midland Post Office (27) and at the Odessa Post Office (26). Scheduled work days for these positions will normally be Monday through Sunday, with an average 36-hour work week for CCA’s and 20-hour work week for RCA’s. Salary for these positions will be $15.30/hour for CCA’s and $16.26/hour for RCA’s. These jobs will be non-career, with no benefits and no guaranteed hours. Note: Limited benefits for CCA’s include paid vacation days, contractual pay raises, and access to the USPS non-career Employee Health Benefits Plan.
Other positions may also become available and can be found on the US Postal Service’s employment website. Pay for various non-career Postal Service jobs normally ranges from $11.76 to $16.26 per hour. Both of these positions have the potential of leading to permanent, full-time USPS career employment, with full benefits.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation: 152 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations. With more than 31,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, usps.com, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $65 billion and delivers nearly 40 percent of the world's mail. If it were a private-sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 42nd in the 2012 Fortune 500. The Postal Service has been named the Most Trusted Government Agency for seven years and the fourth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute.
