BURLESON, TX — On Monday, August 18, Congressman Roger Williams and U. S. Postal Service Area Vice President Jo Ann Feindt will honor the late Sergeant William Robert Moody at a 10:00 a.m. dedication ceremony at the Burleson Post Office. They invite the public to join them as they welcome the Moody family and other guests on this special occasion.
At the dedication ceremony, a plaque honoring Moody that has been installed in the lobby of the Burleson Post Office will be unveiled. The name of the Post Office will not change.
Program highlights will include a welcome by City of Burleson Mayor Ken Sheffer and postal employee Chandra Steel will sing the national anthem.
William R. Moody enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2003. He was deployed twice to Iraq and honorably discharged in 2007. His calling for public service led him to join the Army in 2008. Throughout his years of service, Sergeant Moody’s commendable service earned him numerous honors and service medals, including the Global War on Terror Service Medal, the U. S. Army Commendation Medal, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
In 2012, William received orders to return to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was serving his second tour there where he made the ultimate sacrifice in Bagram Afghanistan on June 18, 2013.
