Rockwall — Customers will walk into the Rockwall Post Office this Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and see quite a bit of activity. In one corner, some of them will be in line, applying for passports. In another corner, Postal representatives will be informing business customers about shipping direct mail pieces, using Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM). And at retail counters, clerks will have the Breast Cancer Awareness Stamp available, and ready to sell.  Passport and EDDM applications will be accepted until 2 p.m.

”We want to be as convenient as ever for our residential and business customers,” says Rockwall Postmaster Nicole Higgs. “Whether they need stamps, a unique shipping service or a passport, we will be ready to take care of them.”

Here is what you need when you apply for a passport:

*Bring in proper proof of American citizenship. This must be either: a certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state; a previous U.S. passport; a certificate of citizenship; or a naturalization certificate. (Please note: a hospital-issued birth certificate alone is not acceptable.)

*Bring in proof of identity. This must be, either a previous U.S. passport; a naturalization certificate; a certificate of citizenship; or a current valid driver’s license, government ID or a military photo ID. Also, bring a copy of the front and back of your driver’s license.

*Passport photographic services will be provided on site for a fee of $15.
To save time, customers can download a passport application (Form DS-11) at www.usps.com/passport  to complete their application beforehand.

*All applicants must appear in person (including minors). Applicants under age 16 must appear with both parents. If one parent is not available, a notarized authorization from the absent parent is required along with a copy of the front and back of their driver’s license.

“Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) is designed for small businesses,” said Higgs. “For less than 18 cents per mail-piece, our customers can send fliers, menus, brochures and advertisements in highly targeted ways.”

EDDM is a proven service, which a huge return-on-investment. It delivers valuable messages with pinpoint accuracy to exact neighborhoods.
