SAN ANTONIO, TX –The U.S. Postal Service Rio Grande District is now seeking qualified applicants for Postal Support Employee (PSE) Laborer Custodial positions for Post Office locations across Central, South and West, Texas. This is a non-career position, which may lead to a career position depending on organizational needs.  Limited benefits include paid time off at the rate of 1 hour for every 20 paid hours, and contractual pay raises.  After one year of service, PSE’s may be eligible for health insurance under Federal Employees Health Benefits Program with a Postal Service premium contribution, dental and vision insurance through the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program, and long term care insurance through the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program.

The starting salary for this position is $13.25 per hour paid bi-weekly. This position is restricted to applicants eligible for veteran’s preference. Applicants who are not entitled to veteran’s preference may be considered only when preference eligible applicants are not available for appointment. PSE Custodians perform manual labor in connection with maintenance and cleaning of the buildings and grounds of a postal facility.  The job is physically demanding, requiring both indoor and outdoor responsibilities.  Applicants must be able to perform the duties of the position with or without accommodation. PSE’s hold temporary appointments for periods not-to-exceed 360 days.  Subsequent appointments after a 5 day break in service may be offered but are not guaranteed and should not be expected because the use of PSE’s is discretionary and subject to business needs.  PSE’s can be scheduled any hours and the position is intended to be very flexible, including weekends and holidays as needed.  PSE’s must be available to work when needed.

Job applications are only accepted online. PSE Laborer Custodial job positions, along with other Postal Service jobs, are posted on www.usps.com/careers under the "search and apply for jobs nationwide section." Positions are posted weekly; anyone wishing to apply must do so within a five-day posting window. It is suggested that interested applicants check the web page regularly to keep up with the position openings.
