CANUTILLO, TX – Today, the U.S. Postal Service implemented an emergency suspension of the Canutillo Post Office, located at 7050 Doniphan Dr., Canutillo, TX 79835, until further notice pending an assessment of the building which sustained severe storm damage late yesterday afternoon.

While the Canutillo Post Office is under an emergency suspension, alternate retail services and service for approximately 1,100 Post Office Box customers will be provided by the nearby Coronado Station Post Office, located at 7383 Remcon Circle, El Paso, TX 79912. Mail delivery operations for about 2,500 residential and business customers will also be moved to this location and customers may pick up items requiring signatures and other “left notice” mail, like packages too large to fit in their mailbox, at the Coronado Post Office location during normal business hours.

Until a full assessment of the damages can be completed, there is no timeline for resumption of postal operations at the Canutillo Post Office.  The Postal Service regrets any inconvenience to its customers and will work to restore operations for this office as soon as possible.

Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS or go to the Postal Service’s Website www.usps.com to get the location of other nearby Post Offices and approved postal retail service providers.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
