Corpus Christi’s 37th Postmaster To Be Officially Recognized

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Aaron Lawson, who was recently appointed as Corpus Christi’s 37th Postmaster, will be officially sworn in during an oath of office ceremony to be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 29, at the Congressman Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, Kleberg Room, 402 Harbor Dr., Corpus Christi, TX 78401.  Mary Sullivan, USPS Rio Grande District Manager, will administer the oath of office.  The event is open to the public.

As Postmaster of Corpus Christi, Lawson’s administrative responsibility encompasses the entire city of Corpus Christi and other areas of Nueces County served by the Corpus Christi Post Office. Lawson oversees daily Postal Service delivery operations for over 140,000 residential, business and Post Office Box addresses.  The Corpus Christi Post Office has 11 Post Office stations and branches, plus two contract postal units, and generates over $4 million annually in total operating revenue.

Lawson started his postal career in 1998, as a part time flexible letter carrier in Hammond, Indiana.  His postal career path has included increasingly challenging roles, including a wide variety of managerial and Officer-In-Charge (OIC) assignments.

Lawson has served as Manager, Customer Services in Kissimmee and Orlando, Florida.  He has served as Postmaster of Rockledge, Florida, and Cocoa, Florida.  He has also served in detail assignments as Manager, Post Office Operations at the district level, as Manager Customer Service Operations at Postal Service Headquarters, and as Manager Human Resources for the USPS Suncoast District, headquartered in Tampa, Florida. 

Prior to being named Postmaster of Corpus Christi, since October 2012 Lawson held the position of Postmaster, Kissimmee, Florida.

Lawson earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University.  He is also a graduate of the Postal Service’s Managerial Leadership Program (MLP) and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. 

Lawson has been married to his wife, Jillian, for 16 years.  They have four children – Abigail, Cole, AJ and Carter.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
