SAN ANTONIO – Postmaster Willie J. Trawick announced today that, due to upcoming 2016 Fiesta activities planned in the city, two post office facilities along the parade route will be closed all day on Friday, April 22, 2016.

“Our concern for safety makes these closures necessary,” advised Postmaster Trawick.  “The traffic becomes very congested as a result of the Fiesta activities and it becomes extremely difficult for our customers to get in and out of our buildings. This creates a potential hazardous situation for our employees and customers”.

Postal operations for Friday through Sunday, April 22-24, 2016:

All Day Facility Closures
Downtown Station, 615 E. Houston St.
Wainwright Station, 515 Pierce Ave.

Letter Collection Receptacle Closures
Several letter collection boxes on the parade route and in the immediate vicinity will be closed on Friday, April 22, through Sunday, April 24, and will re-open on Monday, April 25.  Customers who normally deposit mail at these locations should be prepared to deposit their mail at the closest alternate location indicated on the letter collection box.

All other post offices in San Antonio will remain open and operate on a normal schedule.  Customers are reminded that the Post Office is always open, 24/7 including holidays, at www.usps.com.  We’re right on your desktop, and now available in Spanish and simplified Chinese.

Additionally, postage stamps can now be purchased at many area retail businesses like grocery stores, drug stores, and big-box stores outside of a traditional Post Office.  Many area banks also provide stamps via their ATM machines.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
