HOCKLEY, TX – Due to flooding of the building and surrounding area, effective today, April 20, the Postal Service will suspend operations until further notice at the Hockley Post Office, located at 17210 Warren Ranch Rd., Hockley, TX 77447.
Until service can be restored, PO Box mail for the approximate 524 customers served by the Hockley Post Office will be available for pick up, with proper identification, at the nearby Waller Post Office, located at 40090 Hwy 290 Business, Waller, TX 77484.
For customer convenience, a mobile postal retail van will be located near the Hockley Post Office from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. this Thursday and Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. this Saturday to provide stamp sales and shipping services, such as Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, and other mailing services, like Registered and Certified Mail. The postal van will also provide mail collections up until the time it closes for the day.
Until a complete health and safety assessment is made, and appropriate clean-up performed, to ensure the health and safety of our customers and employees only authorized personnel will be permitted inside the facility.
“We sincerely regret this inconvenience to our customers,” said Eddie Muniz, Post Office Operations Manager for the USPS Houston District. “The safety and well-being of both our customers and employees is of utmost importance to the Postal Service. We will continue providing our customers with the best postal service possible, while working diligently to quickly resolve this issue and reopen the Hockley Post Office.”
Customers can call 1-800-ASK-USPS or go to the Postal Service’s Website www.usps.com to get the location of other nearby Post Offices and approved postal retail service providers.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
