KARNES CITY, TX — Postmaster Jimmy Loya encourages postal customers depositing mail in blue collection boxes after the posted last collection time of the day or on weekends and holidays to use the collection slot inside the Post Office lobby to ensure their mail is safe and secure.  This advisory follows a recent incident where a blue collection box was broken into overnight and some mail deposited in the box after hours is believed to have been stolen.

“I want to strongly encourage customers depositing mail after hours to place their mail in the collection slot located inside the Post Office lobby,” advised Loya, adding, “The collection slot inside Karnes City Post Office lobby is accessible 24 hours a day.”

Customers who have concerns about mail theft issues can go to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service website: https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/#  or may call 1-877-876-2455.
