CRANFILLS GAP, TX — Following a community meeting and U.S. Postal Service review of all public feedback, the Postal Service has made a final decision to relocate retail services at the Cranfills Gap Post Office from its current location at 220 N. 3rd St., in Cranfills Gap. The move became necessary due to an oversized facility at the Post Office’s current location.

The Postal Service will relocate its retail operation to a new space that suits the current requirements for the community and anticipates providing the same services at the new location as were provided to customers at the existing Post Office location before its emergency suspension.  The Postal Service's goal is to select a new customer service location as close to the current site as possible.  Consideration will be given to sites that are convenient to customers and that will meet all USPS operational needs.

The Postal Service plans to continue to offer postal retail services from a mobile postal unit and continue to provide PO Box customers' mail delivery to cluster box units until the replacement facility is open and operating as a Post Office.

While the Postal Service is sensitive to the impact of this decision on its customers and the Cranfills Gap, Texas community, the USPS properly considered community input and this decision is consistent with Postal Service objectives.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
