5-cent denominated Grapes stamp

GRAPEVINE, TX — On February 24, 2017, in Grapevine, TX, the U.S. Postal Service will issue the 5-cent denominated Grapes stamp, in one design, in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps.

The TEXPEX World Series of Philately Stamp Show being held in Grapevine, TX, from February 24-26, 2017, will host a special First Day of Issue ceremony for the issuance of a new 5-cent Grapes stamp.  The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, in the Texas Grande Hall at the Hilton DFW Lakes Executive Conference Center and is open to the public.

Grapes stamps will be available for sale at the event and a special pictorial cancellation will be available.

“The Postal Service is proud to partner with the TEXPEX Stamp Show once again in issuance of the Grapes stamp,” said Grapevine Postmaster Daniel Mata.  “It seems only appropriate to be issuing the Grapes stamp in Grapevine, Texas,”  The program includes remarks from Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association Executive Director Debbie Reynolds.

The Grapes stamp was originally issued in 2016, in a coil format. The stamp art features two clusters of deep-purple Pinot noir grapes growing on vines among several green leaves. The illustrations were created with pen and ink and watercolor. Art director Derry Noyes designed this stamp with an existing illustration by John Burgoyne.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
