Postal Service Hosts Ceremony to Dedicate Coldspring Post Office as the E. Marie Youngblood Post Office

Official dedication of the Coldspring Post Office as the “E. Marie Youngblood Post Office”. The United States Postal Service welcomes the public to attend this free event.

Family of Mrs. E. Marie Youngblood; U.S. Congressman Kevin Brady (R-TX); City of Coldspring Mayor Pat Eversole; San Jacinto County Judge John Lovett, Jr.; Chamber of Commerce President Patrick Clark; National Rural Letter Carriers President Jeanette Dwyer; Texas Rural Letter Carriers Union State President Jacqueline Glance; Houston District Manager David Camp, Coldspring Postmaster Maneika Shankle and other local elected officials, family and friends will gather to officially dedicate and inaugurate the Coldspring Post Office in honor of the late Eddie “Marie” Youngblood.

Coldspring Post Office, 14231 State Highway 150 W., Coldspring TX, 77331

Background:

In 2013, USPS Rural Letter Carrier, Mrs. Eddie “Marie” Youngblood tragically lost her life while delivering mail on her route. Marie worked for the Coldspring Post Office for 10 years. She was an exemplary employee, delivering mail for her customers and serving as a Rural Carrier Training Instructor for the Houston District. Marie had a good heart and loved serving others in her community. In May 2016, Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) introduced a bill (H.R. 5356) to dedicate the Coldspring Post Office in honor of E. Marie Youngblood. The bill was signed into law by the President in December 2016.  Marie is survived by her husband, George Elliot Youngblood, Sr., her two sons, George Elliott Youngblood, Jr. (Timpson,TX Postmaster) and Mark Anthony Youngblood (Cleveland, TX Rural Carrier), her mother and father, Eddie and Hasteen Mathews, a daughter-in-law, LaTonya Youngblood (Shepherd, TX Clerk), granddaughter, Kimora Marie Youngblood and grandson, Luke Anthony Youngblood.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
