Tri-Centennial Pictorial Postmark

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Today, the officials with the San Antonio Tri-Centennial Commission, joined by local and federal officials, unveiled the design for the city’s Tri-Centennial Pictorial Postmark from the U.S. Postal Service. The special pictorial postmark honors and recognizes San Antonio's 300th year. Starting May 1, until the end of May, San Antonians will be able to use the commemorative pictorial postmark on their mail presented for postmarking at the retail window of San Antonio's Arsenal Station Post Office, located at 1140 S Laredo St., San Antonio, TX 78204.

"The San Antonio Post Office is honored to provide this special pictorial postmark, which commemorates the 300th Anniversary of San Antonio," said San Antonio Postmaster Robert Carr. "On letters traveling near and far, this special postmark will serve as a lasting memento and special reminder of our city's long, colorful and rich heritage."

Postal customers may obtain the pictorial postmark in person at the San Antonio Arsenal Station Post Office during normal retail window hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  The office is closed on Sunday.

Those who cannot make it to the post office to obtain the San Antonio Tri-Centennial pictorial postmark in person, but who wish to obtain the postmark may submit a mail order request to:

San Antonio Tri-Centennial Pictorial Cancellation
ATTN: Station Manager
USPS Arsenal Station Post Office
1140 S Laredo St.
San Antonio, TX 78204.

Pictorial postmarks are available only for the dates indicated, and requests must be postmarked no later than 30 days following the date of the requested pictorial postmark date, which are from May 1-31, 2018.

All requests must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First-Class Mail® postage.

Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark.  Such items will be returned un-serviced.

Customers wishing to obtain a postmark, or postmarks, should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard inside a larger envelope, along with a note specifying the requested postmark date (only one postmark per envelope) and address as listed above.  Requests submitted without a specific date request will receive a postmark with the current date, or the May 31, 2018 date for requests received in June.

Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, or postmarks for specific dates, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service will return the items (with or without addresses) under addressed protective cover.
