McKINNEY, TX – The United States Postal Service is committed to providing our customers with excellent service. Due to rapid growth in the McKinney area, it has become necessary to add another ZIP Code to help us efficiently distribute and deliver mail to our customers. We have decided to implement changes to the (75070) ZIP Code in McKinney, TX. The new ZIP Code will allow the Postal Service to maintain its quality of service and provide our customers with mail delivery that is both prompt and accurate.
The addition of the new ZIP Code in McKinney (75072) will become effective July 1, 2018, and affect 18,676 residential and 158 business delivery addresses. No changes are being made in the 75069 and 75071 ZIP Code areas at this time.
The ZIP Code change will affect the area bordered by Virginia Parkway on the north (Virginia Parkway addresses will remain in ZIP Code 75071), U. S. Highway 75 on the east (U.S. Highway 75 addresses will remain in ZIP Code 75070), El Dorado Parkway to south of Westridge Blvd. at Coit Road on the south (El Dorado Parkway addresses will remain in ZIP Code 75070), and Coit Road to Virginia Parkway on the west.
The ZIP Code is being split at El Dorado Parkway. The addresses in ZIP Code 75070 with addresses on El Dorado Parkway and south of El Dorado Parkway will remain in ZIP Code 75070. The addresses currently in ZIP Code 75070 north of El Dorado Parkway will change to the new ZIP Code 75072.
Beginning May 15, postal customers affected by this change will be notified by mail. Customers affected by the new ZIP Code (75072) change are asked to do the following:
- Utilize the new zip code on all outgoing mail
- Notify the individuals with whom you regularly correspond with, as soon as possible, (i.e. family, friends, business, etc.)
- Most mailings have a section where the customer can indicate their corrected or new address; however, “Notification cards for Correspondents and Businesses” will be available at your local Post Office.
- You can continue to use your existing stationery and mailing supplies; but when you reorder, please use the new ZIP Code.
We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. We want you to understand that these changes are essential for us to provide you with the kind of outstanding mail delivery you demand. The United States Postal Service will ensure delivery of your mail with the old ZIP Code for a period of one year to allow you to make the transition to your new ZIP Code.
