Background:

The Silver Lake Post Office will be dedicated as the Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya Post Office in a formal ceremony on May 4, 2018. On January 05, 2017, Rep. Pete Olsen (TX-22) introduced a bill (H.R. 294) to dedicate the Silver Lake Post Office, located at 2700 Cullen Boulevard in Pearland, TX in honor of Officer Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya. The bill was signed into Public Law 115-133 by the President on March 16, 2018, to designate the facility of the United States Postal Service.

On June 12, 2016, Pearland Police Officer Ekpanya was killed in a vehicle crash while responding to a non-emergency call. Officer Ekpanya was traveling in the eastbound lane of traffic when an impaired driver crossed the center line and struck his vehicle head-on. Officer Ekpanya later succumbed to injuries sustained in the line of duty.

Officer Ekpanya had served with the Pearland Police Department for one year. His tenacity was only outshined by his love for his family. His greatest quality was being an exceptional father and a provider for his family. Officer Ekpanya is survived by his fiancée, son, parents, two brothers and numerous relatives and friends.

The ceremony is free and open to the public.
