OGDEN, UTAH — Byron S. Burnett has been named the 25th Postmaster of Ogden. As Postmaster, Burnett is responsible for all delivery and retail operations in the Ogden area, which includes 207 employees, 4 retail stations, branches and carrier units, and 75,409 addresses served by more than 109 delivery routes.
Excellent mail service and customer satisfaction are high priorities for Burnett.
“We want every postal transaction to be a satisfying one for our customers,” said Burnett. “I am anxious to work with a great group of employees who are committed to providing the best possible service to our customers.”
Burnett has deep roots in the Ogden area, where he attended Ogden City schools. He graduated from Ogden High School, and attended Weber State University. He began his postal career in 1984 as a letter carrier in Ogden. Since then he has held numerous management positions including Manager Customer Services in Ogden, and Manager Operations Programs Support for the Salt Lake City Postal District. Most recently Burnett was Manager, Customer Service Operations at the Salt Lake Post Office. He is a graduate of the Postal Service’s Advanced Leadership Program.
Burnett and spouse Beth have been married for 37 years. They have five children, three daughters-in-law, and 10 grandchildren.
Burnett replaces former Ogden Postmaster Robert W. Johnson, who retired in December, 2009, after 43 years of federal service, including 30 years as Ogden Postmaster.

A self-supporting government enterprise, the U.S. Postal Service is the only delivery service that reaches every address in the nation, 150 million residences, businesses and Post Office Boxes. The Postal Service receives no tax dollars. With 36,000 retail locations and the most frequently visited website in the federal government, the Postal Service relies on the sale of postage, products and services to pay for operating expenses. Named the Most Trusted Government Agency five consecutive years and the sixth Most Trusted Business in the nation by the Ponemon Institute, the Postal Service has annual revenue of more than $68 billion and delivers nearly half the world’s mail. If it were a private sector company, the U.S. Postal Service would rank 26th in the 2008 Fortune 500.
