The United States Postal Service will celebrate the grand opening for Utah’s first Village Post Office (VPO) on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the Cedar Mountain True Value Hardware Store in Duck Creek Village.

Village Post Offices are located in non-Postal Service establishments, such as an existing community business, town hall or government center.

Kane County officials will join postal officials and store proprietor Sam Stadtlander for an 11 a.m. ribbon cutting Tuesday. Complimentary refreshments including sandwiches, drinks and cookies will be offered at the event.

Nationwide, 402 VPOs have opened to provide a range of limited postal services that includes the sale of First-Class (Forever) stamp booklets, free Priority Mail flat-rate supplies, prepaid Priority Mail Flat Rate products, mail delivery receptacles and pre-paid mail acceptance.

The VPO at Cedar Mountain True Value will be open during the store’s regular business hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The U.S. Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
