SALT LAKE CITY, UT — In the coming weeks the U.S. Postal Service will hire approximately 400 employees to work at select Utah Post Offices; 360 of the positions are temporary for the holidays only, and 40 are year-long appointments. Most of the positions are based in the Wasatch Front.
The temporary holiday positions include 60 city carrier assistant holiday jobs which pay $15.30 an hour, and 300 clerks and mail handlers, which is primarily night time work, and pays $12-$15 an hour. Candidates must be available to work a flexible schedule. The number of hours worked will vary.
Approximately 40 city carrier assistants will also be hired. These are non-career positions, pay $15.30 an hour and are initially appointed for 360-days. The city carrier assistant positions have the possibility of future employment as a career employee. Applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule, Monday through Saturday. The number of hours worked will vary.
There are limited benefits associated with the city carrier assistant positions. City carrier associates can accumulate vacation days. They will also have the opportunity to participate in Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan after the first 360-day appointment.
