RICHMOND — If customers of the US Postal Service in the Richmond District hear footsteps on their porches early in the morning, late in the evening or on Sunday, chances are it’s the mail carrier.

This Holiday season the Postal Service will make additional parcel deliveries prior to Christmas to get much-anticipated holiday packages to customers more quickly. Customers in ZIP code areas which have traditionally experienced higher parcel volumes may receive parcels as early in the day as 6:30 a.m. and as late as 8:00 p.m. weekdays, and as early as 8:30 a.m. on Sundays. Parcels may also be delivered by the regular carrier during normal delivery hours Monday through Saturday.

Customers are asked to reference the chart below to see if their ZIP code is included in this enhanced service. Customers are also cautioned not to expect deliveries daily during each of these time frames since decisions to make these additional parcel deliveries will be based on the volume of parcels received for that ZIP code. If the number of packages received warrants additional deliveries, carriers will be out on the routes early and/or late. Customers are also asked to understand that the early, late and Sunday deliveries will not include their regular letter and magazine or catalog mail.
