RICHMOND, VA — The Postal Service continues to make progress in restoring normal mail collection and delivery operations despite Winter Storm Jonas’ several inches of snow accumulation. Post Offices in the Richmond District are open with normal retail hours.

The Postal Service asks for continued patience as the employees are taking extra precautions to remain safe during the storm’s aftermath. Safety is a top priority for both employees and customers, which may result in slight, unavoidable service disruptions.

Letter carriers cannot deliver mail to addresses where ice and snow are not cleared. Postal officials are reminding the general public to please show carriers appreciation by ensuring they are safe when delivering mail. Please keep mailboxes, steps, and sidewalks clear of snow and ice so letter carriers are able to provide the safest, most efficient delivery service possible.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
