ROANOKE, VA — The United States Postal Service is actively seeking applications for casual mailhandler (CEP) positions at the Roanoke, VA Processing & Distribution Center.  Casual mailhandlers are paid an hourly rate of $15.00 per hour without employee benefits. Applications will be accepted October 20 – 25, 2016.

Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U.S. Postal Service’s requirements of drug-free employment.

Applicants must be able to work evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.  Additionally:

  • Applicants must be available to work when needed and expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance of the post office.
  • Duties are physically demanding and include moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, as well as, prolonged standing, walking and reaching.
  • Applicants, except for individuals performing active military duty, will need to be present for screening activities, including an interview, at the facility or vicinity.

  • The system will walk you through your Profile Roadmap.
  • Search for vacancies by state only (no keywords)
  • Click “apply” for each position you are interested in.
  • You will receive a confirmation email message after creating your initial profile and following each position applied for.

To be eligible:

  • You must meet our personnel suitability requirements for USPS employment. (Background checks, including criminal history, drug screening, medical and prior employment, will be obtained.)
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien. You must be 18 years old or16 with high school equivalency. Males born after 12/31/59 must be registered with the Selective Service System.

Applicants need to check their email daily for prompt processing of their application and for further employment information. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and pass a background investigation, drug screening and medical assessment.
