USPS Secures Collection Boxes Before Upcoming Protests

RICHMOND, VA — In the interest of safety and security, postal officials will seal Postal Service collection boxes on Saturday, Sept. 16, around Monument Avenue in anticipation of protests.

The familiar blue collection boxes will be inaccessible after the final scheduled collection of mail on the evening of Friday, Sept. 15. Impacted collection boxes will be accessible for the deposit of mail on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 17.

US Mail Collection Boxes impacted at the following locations:

  • 1801 Hanover Ave
  • 2038 Monument Ave
  • 1645 W. Broad St (Saunders PO)
  • 2001 W. Broad St
  • 1213 W. Franklin St
  • 901 W. Franklin St

For additional locations to deposit mail, customers are directed to usps.com and use Quick Tools to Find Locations. Use the dropdown for collection boxes or Post Offices to find alternate locations for secure mail deposits in the immediate area.
