A customer appreciation day at the local Virginia City Post Office. Local and district officials will be on hand to answer questions about mail delivery. This will also be a chance to meet the new Postmaster and take a look at how operations run. Historic photos of the Post office will be on display. Refreshments will be served. |

Background: |
The United States Postal Service has been serving the town of Virginia City since Dec 3, 1859, a 158-year uninterrupted run. The local Post Office preceded the establishment of the state of Nevada, a part of the Utah Territory. It still lies at the economic and communication crossroads for the community.
