NORFOLK, VA — The U.S. Postal Service is scheduled to resume postal services, including mail delivery, mail collections and retail services at Post Offices on Saturday, Sept. 15, in all accessible ZIP Code areas that were closed due to mandatory evacuations. For the latest information on USPS service updates, check https://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/.
“Our employees worked hard to keep the mail moving during this weather event,” said Janice Atherly, manager of the Postal Service’s Richmond District. “Fortunately, we were spared the storm’s full impact and remain ready to assist other postal facilities and their customers impacted by Hurricane Florence in any way we can.”
Post Offices along Virginia’s Eastern Shore closed temporarily beginning Sept. 11 to prepare for possible flooding. Mail delivery service is returning to normal in all impacted areas.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
